What day is it today?
It’s today. Nothing more than that.
Death draws no distinction.
It doesn’t take a day off. It will come regardless.
What can we hope for in the final judgement?
That death takes us behaving as we ought to behave, acting in the manner that we wish to live our lives, doing the work we have been asked to do.
None of these are specific to a particular day, a particular time or a particular location.
We can do them anywhere, any time.
Every day is a chance to prove ourselves. Every day is a chance to work on living in accordance with our nature, to work on each and every role we’ve been assigned, to work on respecting the place we’ve been put.
Today is the day.
