Words are more than the sum of their letters.
What they mean depends on so many things. How they’re said, the context, the perspective of the person saying them, who they’re being said to, how the person hearing them or reading them interprets them.
We have to pay attention to more than the words.
Both when we’re talking and when we’re being talked to.
We have to listen.
And we have to say what we believe.
Then we stand a chance of understanding.
And being understood.
