creating stress

There are times when being stressed is justified.

And there are times when it is not.

How do we distinguish between the two?

I propose a fairly simple rule.

Are you going to die as a result of this thing? If the answer to that question is yes, you might have a reason to feel some stress. But then again, indirectly, every action will eventually lead to your death. So even in that case, it’s a bit of a grey area.

In all other situations, I don’t think stress is the correct response. I think we’ve always got a better option available to us.

The trouble is that irrational anger can often be the easy reaction. We choose outrage, panic or anxiety instead of stopping to consider how else we could behave.

I realise that saying this and acting upon it are two very different things.

But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try.

What are you doing to become the best version of yourself?
