Our tendancy is to surround ourselves with people who think the same way that we do.
People who do the same things, who go to the same places.
But ours is just one perspective. And what makes us so sure that ours is the right one?
There’s a possibility that everything we think might be wrong. That, in fact, the opposite of what we first believed might be true.
But until we open ourselves up to that alternative way of thinking, we’re lost in the dark.
So we have to challenge our beliefs. All of them. We have to explore different points of view, not just out of curiosity, but with the prospect that they might change our mind.
Instead of shying away from those who think differently, we have to welcome it as an opportunity to question ourselves.
We know what lies on this side. What about the other?
