Doing things to try and keep other people happy can be an easy path to take.
But at the same time, we’re only really guessing what they want. We might in fact be doing them a disservice by thinking we know better.
Asking them what they want probably won’t lead to much better results.
We might only get the answer they think we want to hear. Or the answer they think they ought to give.
Their actions might give us some clue as to what they really want. But ultimately we have no real say in the matter. It’s down to them.
Instead, we can simply choose to act according to our own desires.
We can be honest and open about what we want and don’t want. We can be selfish in the pursuit of those things.
Let other people worry about themselves.
