We’ve got a question. Or maybe it’s an issue to resolve.
How do we go about our investigation?
Sometimes we have a subconscious tendancy to think we know what the answer should be before we start. This is what the solution is, now how do I get there?
We think we know where it will be found, so that’s where we focus all of our attention. We know what type of thing we’re looking for, so we ignore everything that looks different.
But that’s not how experiments work.
We might start with a hypothesis. But we have to accept the possibility that every assumption we make is wrong.
Not just the ones we hope are wrong.
We have to keep an open mind.
And search without judgment.
