Sometimes we need a reminder about why we do what we do.
Why we hold certain beliefs. Why certain things are important to us.
It can be so valuable to have someone question us. To have someone test our position. To make us really consider both sides of the discussion.
It’s a reminder that we need to do this to ourselves as well.
Research the topic. Outline all of the facts. Give all the reasons supporting our current opinion.
Then argue against them.
Take each one and provide counter-arguments. Reasons why they could be false.
Evaluate both sides on their independent merits and draw a conclusion on that basis.
This can then be treated as the new hypothesis.
Until the time comes to test it again.
