Over time we become more and more set in our ways.
We know what we like. Or at least we think we do. We know where we’re comfortable. But that’s a dangerous place to be. It’s a place of stasis and stagnation.
The easy decision is the one we’ve made many times before.
We’ve got a good idea what the outcome will be. We can make a fairly good prediction of what will happen next.
But what about if we try something new? Then we don’t have any previous information to go off.
Risk exists on a spectrum.
There are some things where we can afford to simply jump straight in. And some that require a little more preparation.
When we do need to prepare, we have to be willing to accept an imperfect situation.
We have to get far enough, and then take that leap.
