dead but not gone

Everything has a limited lifespan.

It might be longer than our own, it might be shorter.

But the time will come when it ceases to be useful. It is no longer relevant.

It might be replaced by something else. Or it might not need replacing.

The purpose that it fulfilled might not exist any more.

This process isn’t immediate though. There is a delay.

The old will carry on, despite the new. For a time anyway.

Some instances are obvious, others not so much.

Everything will die. But what is already dead?
